Nancy O'Dell's debut job in the broadcast industry was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She then worked as an anchor and morning reporter on WCBD TV. The work of O'Dell on the streets of Charleston regarding the leniency of police officers towards DUI cases led to being the State Law Enforcement Division investigating the cases. Ms. O'Dell won an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell then worked for the Miami-based station of NBC WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor. O'Dell is a leading anchor at Access Hollywood. In addition, she contributes for NBC News Today and Dateline NBC.
